Bobbie Marie Schmidt's Obituary
BOBBIE MARIE SCHMIDT, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17th, 2023. She was born on December 10th, 1926 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Bobbie Gordon Burns and Leitha Mae Burns. When she was young, her Dad took a job with the Houston Post and they moved to Houston, Texas. Growing up she played the violin and at Reagan High School, she played the bugle in the Reagan Red Coats. She met her husband Harry Schmidt when he moved to Houston after World War II. While Bobbie worked as a dedicated mother and wife, Harry worked for many decades with her father Bobbie Burns at the Houston Post. In 2012, she moved to an apartment at Treemont Retirement Community and greatly enjoyed daily socializing at meals and playing a variety a games. Any time she had to be away, she was always eager to get back to her home and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Carl Schmidt Jr. in 2003 and her granddaughter Heather Oxford in 2022.
Succeeding her are children, Shirley Marie Wheeler and husband Clifford, David Gordon Schmidt and wife Fran, Debra Schmidt Ramey, and Carl Wayne Schmidt;
Grandchildren, Bryan Stinnett and wife Kelly, Jason Schmidt and wife Rachel, Jordan Shaughnessy and husband Kevin, and Ashley Schmidt;
Great-grandchildren, Rachel Langston and husband Jason, Sonni Oxford, Hannah Oxford, Trilby Schmidt, Alex Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, Liam Shaughnessy, Kathleen Shaughnessy, Morgan Shaughnessy, Ashton Fuentes, Julian Lomas and Isaac Lomas;
Great-great-grandchildren, Roman Langston, Rhette Langston.
A celebration of Bobbie's life will be Saturday, May 6th at 4 PM at SouthPark Funeral Home with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Houston Humane Society, 14700 Almeda Rd, Houston, TX 77053.
