Mrs. Billie Ava Latta's Obituary
Billie Ava (Emmett) Latta, aged 87, passed peacefully through the gates of Heaven on June 26, 2019, at Oak Haven Assisted Living in Industry, Texas. Born August 26, 1931, as Billie Ava Reuwer, Billie grew up in the Humble Camps in Conroe, Tomball, Alvin and Friendswood. She married Charles Emmett on September 12, 1951 in the Genoa Baptist Church. She had three children with Charles (Charles Beltran (Chuck), Leslie Blake, and Mark Ralph). Husband Charles passed April 21, 1986. Having been a homemaker, Billie entered the work force, and enjoyed fending for herself. She later met up with an old high school friend, James Latta (Jim), and was married to Jim on August 7, 1989. Billie and Jim had a happy life traveling, and living in Houston, Pearland, and eventually in Galveston at Billie’s favorite place, the bay house. As they aged, the couple ultimately returned to Pearland, where Jim passed September 19, 2011.
Billie was pre-deceased by both husbands Charles and Jim, and her eldest son Chuck. She is survived by two sons, Leslie Blake (Spouse Kathy) Emmett and Mark Ralph (Spouse Roma) Emmett, two adult step children, Belinda Abell and Brian Latta, three grandchildren, Jacob Charles Emmett and Lucas Blake Emmett (her little boys), and granddaughter Mia Emmett, brother Lawrence (Spouse Sylvia) Reuwer, nephews Michael Reuwer, Bill Reuwer, her favorite niece, Charlotte Zimmermann, and “fourth” child Billy Faught.
A Memorial service will be held at SouthPark Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, Texas, on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org/Donate). The family further expresses a special thank you to the care givers and staff at Oak Haven Assisted Living in Industry, Texas. Billie, a spirited woman, always spoke her mind, and the staff at Oak Haven took all of her in stride, and made her stay there enjoyable for both Billie and the family.
Billie will be remembered for her loud voice, her bright colors in dress, her unabashed opinions, and her passion: “Porch, Beer, Cigarette, and a Sunset”
