Beverly Huffmon's Obituary
The son of Solom Huffmon and Louise Huffmon was born on July 31, 1937 in Plain
Dealing, Louisiana. When Beverly was six, his family moved to Kilgore, Texas. Beverly
accepted Jesus Christ at an early age.
Beverly attended C. B. Dansby High School. He was a member of the C. B. Dansby
High School graduating class of 1957. All through the years, he stayed in close
contact with his high school class mates. After graduation, he was drafted in the
United States Army. He was stationed in Livorno, Italy, where he served two years.
He served during the Vietnam War.
He returned to the United States and decided to live in Los Angeles, California. He was
employed at the Los Angeles Water and Power Department. He retired on August 1,
1995 after 31 years of employment.
He had a strong love for golf. He played golf in and around Los Angeles and
throughout the United States. He was joined at various golf tournaments and events by
members of the T. Masters Golf Club. He loved golf so much he wanted to share his
love with his family. He provided golf lessons for his daughter Angie as well as
personally teaching his niece and nephew how to play golf. In turn for the niece and
nephew agreeing to be taught how to play golf, he would treat them to McDonalds’
after the golf lessons.
On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, with his wife by his side, God welcomed Beverly into his
sheltering arms to rest from his earthly toils.
Beverly was preceded in death by his parents, sister Stella Glover and bother Leo
Huffmon.
Beverly is survived by his wife Dennis Huffmon, daughters, Angela Huffmon, Denise
Crow, Darlene Slavage;(T.J.), son Joel Goodie; (LaShawn).
He has three grandchildren, Jonathan Caldwell, Alessandra Brown, Kyler Goodie and
Shannon Mayfield and a great granddaughter Milani Caldwell and a host of nieces
and nephews.
