Betty Loene Tadlock's Obituary
Betty Loene Tadlock passed peacefully into eternity on May 2, 2025 in Webster, Texas. She was known as Mama to her children and Lovie to her granddaughter. She was a dedicated follower of Christ, a loving wife, mother, devoted grandmother and friend. Betty was born in California, December 5, 1942 to Ernest and Eileen and later became big sister to Lawrence. She was an avid learner and always did well in school. Her father’s work brought her family to Orange, TX when she was in the Fifth Grade. This allowed them to live close to extended family and develop life-long friendships with cousins and classmates. Upon graduation from Stark High School, she followed her love of science and began her studies in biology at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX.
While a student at TWU, she met her husband, David, who was studying Math and Physics at North Texas State University. After two years of study, Betty had to return home to care for her mother after her father was killed in a car accident. The following year, she went back to school to become an X-ray technician. Betty and David became engaged and married in 1965. They moved to the Houston area where David went to work as an Aerospace Engineer for NASA at Johnson Space Center. They raised two children (Bethany and Brad) in the Sagemont/Sagemeadow neighborhood where Betty was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Despite struggling with severe scoliosis, she was a good cook, kept a tidy home, was a creative decorator, amazing seamstress and biblical educator to her children along with her husband. Her children benefitted from her dedication to family.
Betty had a life-long love of reading, especially enjoying Science Fiction, politics, Psychology and Bible study. She had a good sense of humor, was generous and creative with paper art and jewelry design. She played the piano by ear and sang Alto on church hymns. She was open with her faith and loved to share with anyone who would listen about the saving grace of God that she had accepted early in life. In her later years, she was unable to attend church anymore, but enjoyed sharing with the neighbors, handymen, lawn care supervisors and friends who visited her at home. She also shared her resources with charities such as Prison Fellowship, Wounded Warriors and Operation Smile.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Tadlock, her son, Bradley Tadlock and her daughter, Amy Tadlock. She is survived by her daughter, Bethany Woodard, her son-in-law, Michael Woodard and her granddaughter, Ariana Woodard, her cousins Kit and KrisDonna Mack of Camarillo, CA, her cousin Betty Morgan of Orange, TX, cousins of the J.E. Hodge family of TX, niece Kim Bankowski, members of the extended Tadlock family and many wonderful, loving friends.
We are grateful for the loving and generous woman that she was and rejoice knowing that she is reunited with loved ones in the presence our Lord, Jesus Christ. We look forward to seeing her again.
