Betty Ruth Leusing's Obituary
With sadness the family of Betty Ruth Cox Leusing notes her passing peacefully on November 24, 2024 at the age 88 in Cypress, Texas. Betty was born on November 10, 1936 in Post, Texas to Allie Fay Cox and Jessie Neil Cox. She grew up in Lubbock, Texas, graduated from Lubbock High school and attended Texas Tech University and Baylor University. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Allie Fay Cox and Jessie Cox, her brother Tommy Cox and her husband, Lloyd Leusing. She is survived by her sisters, Carol Sherer and Elizabeth Loosmore of Richland Hills, Texas, and brother, Samuel Cox of Austin, Texas. She has two sons and two daughters, Thomas Leusing of Ashland, Kentucky, Michael Leusing of Muskegon Michigan, Patricia Deanne Leusing of Spring, Texas and Virginia Kathleen Johnson of Cypress, Texas, as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was loved by all and touched so many lives. Betty was always a hard worker and entrepreneur. She worked at various jobs including secretary and reservation agent for Continental Airlines, before catching the entrepreneurial bug which led her to be owner/operator of an antique shop and two restaurants. In later years she became a real estate agent before retiring to care for her husband. Betty was a wonderful cook and passed on many recipes that her family still prepares for family celebrations—zucchini bread, prune cake, fruit salad and Frito pie. Her last work was a creative project— she made and sold angels out of old quilts. To her family she was an angel, a loved one, a survivor, and a devoted Houston Astro’s fan.
