Mrs. Bette L. Habada's Obituary
In loving Memory of Bette L. Habada (aka B. L. or Nonnie) who has gone to be with our Lord, Monday the 21st day of March 2011. Bette was born June 14th, 1928 in Tulsa Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. and Velma C. Smith. She was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Alfred Habada, her sister Edna Smith Lemoine, Brother in-law Anthony Lemoine and sister Maxine Smith Barker. She has one surviving sister, Dentry Smith Triplett and Brother in-law Blaine F. Barker.
Our beloved Bette started her life in Oklahoma but soon moved with her family to Texas where she met a young Alfred Habada while he was on Military Leave, they held residences in both Michigan and Texas. Bette returned to establish permanent residence in Pearland, Texas in 1973. But she also maintained an apartment in Houston during her career years and spent several years as a lady rancher in Luling Texas. She retired from Natural Gas Pipeline in 1986. Later she would enjoy a part time job with Saturn, transporting cars in and around Texas and Louisiana from 1999 until early 2010.
She loved the wind in her hair, taking cruises, laying on the beaches of Mexico, took a primitive trip to Guatemala in a pickup truck, toured Europe, and made numerous trips with her sister's and girlfriends around the United States. Her favorite place in all the world was Big Bend National Park, Texas and she returned many times to hike, climb mountains and raft the river. Her passion was her horses and participating in Trail Rides and Parades, always making new friends along the way. She volunteered at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, 4 years on the Appaloosa Horse Committee. She was very proud of the years she spent volunteering with the American Red Cross. During that time Bette drove Emergency Response Vehicles, and most notably participated in helping people after the disaster of Hurricane Marilyn in St. Thomas. In 2010 she went through the Pearland Police Academy and became part of their Pearland Police Citizen's Patrol. Unfortunately she wasn't able to provide many volunteer hours before her symptoms started to occur. Her greatest love was reserved for her sons, but she leaves a wonderful legacy to all the people she has touched during her life. Her most famous saying was, "You don't know if you can do it unless you try". And she pretty much accomplished everything she tried to do in her life. She leaves behind four son's and their spouses: Richard and Pamela Habada of Katy Texas, Dale Habada of Pearland, Texas, David and Deni Habada of Pearland, Texas and Dean Habada of Pearland Texas. She also leaves five grandchildren and their spouses: Donnell and Neil Cantley, Richard Habada Jr., Michelle and Kevin Hunter, Kurt and Allison Habada and Jesse Habada. Five Great Grandchildren: Jordan and Griffin Cantley, Emma and Grant Hunter and Caleb J. Habada. Nephews, Anthony and Daniel Lemoine, Blaine (Biff) Barker and Daniel Triplett. Nieces, Yvette Lemoine Siebenkittel, Velana Barker Pulido, Carol Lemoine Gillan, Larenda Triplett Hicks, DeLynn Triplett Abernathy, Stacy Triplett, their families and a huge extended family in the Pearland area.
