Mrs. Bessie Leathers' Obituary
Bessie “Bess” Larue Bennett Leathers, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior May 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. M. "Pete" Leathers; parents, F. M. and Essie Bennett; sister, Rita Bennett; and brother, Jay Bennett. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Brandl (Jerry); son, Ronnie Leathers (Beth); granddaughters, Jennifer Brandl (Erica); Mary Serrano (Jose); great grandsons, Jonathan and Austin Serrano; step grandsons, Chris Brandl (Audrea) and Brian Brandl; Brothers, Bryson Bennett (Lena); Keith Bennett (Gladys); sisters, Bea Bostick; Evonne Nichols (J. M.); Reba Harris (Bruce); Rachel Lotz (Bob);
JoAnne Brackeen (Luther), sister-in-law Gay Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews; and special long-time friend, Mary Benton.
Bess was born December 10, 1931 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi and married
Pete Leathers May 8, 1952. They raised their family near the Pasadena area. She
was an amazing Mother, Mama, Great Mama and friend. Bess was a member of
First Baptist Church in Pasadena where she enjoyed the Keenagers group, working
with the HomeBound and her Sunday School Class when she was able. She also
loved the outdoors, travelling, bunko for the past fifteen years, and gardening.
We want to extend special thanks to Mary, Mother’s granddaughter for taking care
of their “Mama” for the last three years. Thanks also to her other caregiver, Judy Williams.
Services will be held at South Park Funeral Home 1310 North Main St. Pearland, TX 77581 on
May 31, 2016 with visitation at 1:00 and funeral at 3:00 with Dr. Jon Redmond from First Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers are Ardell Brandl, Harold Hardy, Marty Caliva, Tommy
Womack, Chris Brandl and Brian Brandl.
