Bernice Ray McCormick's Obituary
Bernice Ray McCormick, age 93, peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord on March 5, 2024, at her home in Huntsville, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born in Francitas, Texas on March 4, 1931, to Daniel and Thelma Ford.
Bernice left Arkansas in 1948 and settled in the Alvin/Pearland, Texas area before moving to Friendswood, Texas. There she raised her family of three children. Besides caring for her own family, she would iron clothes and watch children for people in Friendswood, she also made homemade delicious pies for the malt shop cafe that was next door to her home.
Later Bernice worked in an aircraft parts machine shop in Southeast Houston, and she also owned and operated Martin’s Burger Cafe in Friendswood. In her later years she relocated to Northwest Houston and opened M&B Cafe and fed the masses.
Her later years had her relocating again to Huntsville, Texas where she lived with her daughter Thelma. She enjoyed garage sales, playing cards, and baking all kinds of great desserts. Her favorite hobby by far was playing slot machines. She never met a slot machine she didn’t like, and she had the fastest button finger in the west!
She is survived by her three children: daughter Thelma, sons Ronald (Priscilla) and Donald (Fern), 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way as well as many more numerous family and friends. Bernice leaves behind a family that she loved to be around. We are forever grateful for her long life and the many memories we all made together.
Until we meet again.
