Benedicta Bessie Bonin's Obituary
Mrs. Benedicta Bessie Bonin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 at the age of 75 from complications of chronic illness after being hospitalized. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mama Bessie as she was known by most people, was born in Lagos, Nigeria on August 22nd, 1945. She was the youngest of 14 children (12 boys and two girls) and she lived most of her life in Lagos, Nigeria where she was married to Mr. Victor Bonin, who preceded her in death 19 years ago.
She studied accounting and was associated with the institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). She worked as an Auditor in the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and National Cargo Handling Company (NCHC) for many years before retiring.
She relocated to the United States of America in 1998, and has resided here in Houston, Texas since then. While here she chose to work in healthcare first as a Certified Nurses Aide and later as a Medication Aide until retiring in February of 2018. She attempted the LVN licensure program of the state of California but was unable to complete it due to her age and health condition.
She is survived by her three beautiful daughters; Dr. Cynthia Oluyemi Bonin DNP, Oredola Oluyomi Ogundele (nee Bonin), Mosopefoluwa Anne Bamisaiye (nee Bonin); son in-law Raphael Babasola Ogundele and five grand children namely Reginald Adetula, Nathan Bolaji, Enoch Bolaji, Isabel Ogundele and Aaron Ogundele.
