Mr. Austin Edward Cotten's Obituary
Austin Edward Cotten, 88, of Pearland, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 in Webster, Texas. He was born July 23, 1920 in Port Lavaca, Texas to Marion and Rosie Cotten. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Exie Odell Cotten; grandson, Rodney Wood, Jr. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Carnagey, Carol Shelby and husband John and Brenda Cotten; grandchildren, Kevin Taylor, Clint Wood, Kelley Vanhook, Jennifer Darr and Elizabeth Whitehurst. Austin served in the Marine Corp in the Pacific during World War II and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge in 1946. Austin worked for Houston Light & Power Company for 37 years and retired in 1983, a member of the Masonic Lodge #1403 and a member of the Almeda Baptist Church. He was the owner of a very active cattle business in the Almeda area.
