Audrey Leger's Obituary
Audrey Marie Leger, 84, of Missouri City, Texas, passed away at her home on December 30, 2025.
Born to Armany and Nida Leger, Audrey grew up with a strong spirit and a warm, generous heart. She graduated Valedictorian from the Louisiana School for the Deaf, where she built lifelong friendships and developed the resilience and independence that shaped her life. Audrey was a devoted member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, and her faith remained a steady foundation through every season of her life.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sons, Dana Wright, and Alvin Wright; brothers, Chester Leger, Oran Leger, and Sherwood Leger; and sisters, Louella Lagneaux, Wannida Richard, Rose Belle Varain, Shirley Ann Leger, Lelia Leger, and Lillian Leger.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Danny) Gortney, and Pamela Williams; daughter-in-law Dede Wright; her sisters, Arine Prejean, and Louann Leger; and an extended family who will forever cherish her strength, humor, and unwavering love.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren — Jessica Roberts, Austin Wright, Whitney Allen, Devon Pinkney, Emmanuel Williams, Meraiah Williams, and Temple Williams — each of whom carries a piece of her spirit forward. Audrey was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Aniyah, Peyton, Preston, Pierson, Parker, Hayden, Malachi, and Emma.
Audrey had a deep love for music and dancing. Even though she could not hear, she felt every beat and never missed a chance to tap along with joy. She also loved LSU football, a passion that began during her high school years and stayed with her throughout her life. She found peace and happiness at the beach and loved swimming — the water was one of her favorite places to relax and feel free.
She also adored her pets, especially her dog Cece and her cat Lola, who brought her comfort, companionship, and daily joy.
Audrey was an inspiration to all who knew her. While she may have been deaf, she raised four children and worked full-time as a bookkeeper at a bank — a testament to her determination, work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Her life was marked by quiet perseverance, deep love, and a gentle kindness that touched everyone around her. Audrey’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support St. Dominic Deaf Center Deaf Club to honor the memory of Audrey.
