Mr. Arturo L. Gonzalez's Obituary
Arturo L. Gonzalez was born December 12, 1925 in Baytown, Texas and passed away February 10, 2016 at Houston Hospice. Arturo is survived by Irma, his loving wife of 65 years, and his four children Hector Gonzalez, Arturo Gonzalez, Ruth Gonzalez and Sylvia Gonzalez Cardwell. Also surviving are Arturo's brothers Rodolfo L. Gonzalez of Houston, Ruben Gonzalez of San Antonio, and many nieces and nephews. When asked of what he was proudest, he always responded with an enthusiastic "My family!"
A devout Catholic, Arturo belonged to St. Christopher Catholic Church in Houston and enjoyed his duties there as an usher. He loved to fish, garden and read the daily newspaper. He tended to his many pecan trees which produced thousands of pecans. He was creative, skilled at many things and had a talent for making clever wooden toys, enhanced with unusual, recycled bits and pieces.
Arturo was proud to have worked as a foreman at United States Gypsum Company and retired in 1985 after 35 years. He served in the Air Force during World War II when the operations were still part of the United States Army.
Funeral service will be held at South Park Funeral Home at 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, Texas on February 12 at 1 p.m.
