Armando Gongora's Obituary
Armando Gongora left this world on September 3, 2024, (the exact date his wife left us three years ago.) They are in Heaven together!
Armando was born on May 12, 1946, in Mercedes, Texas to Alonzo and Herminia Gongora, where he also attended Mercedes High School. Armando joined the army in 1964 and was able to travel overseas as part of his deployment.
He worked for Pearland ISD for twenty-three years in the transportation department. He was loved by his coworkers, the students, and his family.
Armando was a loving son, dad, husband, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Herminia Gongora, brother, Jorge Gongora, his wife, Estela Romero Gongora, his Father and Mother in-law, Octavio and Guadalupe Romero, and his son in law, Armando Manual Ordaz.
He is survived by his loving siblings, Alonzo Gongora (Dolores), Rafael Gongora (Margarita), Tino Gongora (Alice), Adela Flores (Oscar), Eleazar Gongora, Hector Gongora (Brenda), Joe Gongora (Elva), Nelda Gongora, Gus Gongora (Christina), and Christina Gongora (Gilbert). His sister-in-law, Pita Romero Canales (Eddie). His daughters Melinda Gongora Ordaz, Melissa Gongora Martinez (Manuel), and Danielle Joyce (Brandon). He loved his grandchildren Briana Cervantes, Melanie Martinez, Ashley Romo, Gabriella Ordaz, Delilah, Dane Joyce, Valarie Orellana (John), Brianna Martinez, Joshua Martinez (Marissa), and Nicholas Martinez (Margarita) in addition to his great grandchild, and nephews and nieces.
Mando requested to be cremated. His urn will be placed in a nook, next to his beloved wife, Stela, at South Park cemetery.
A viewing will take place on September 18, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main St. Pearland, TX
