Annie Lou Binford's Obituary
Annie Lou Binford, of Pasadena, Texas passed peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2013. Born in Johnson City, Texas, February 2, 1928 to Buford H. and Laura V. Maddox. She grew up in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and was proud of her heritage. As one of six children growing up in the midst of the Great Depression, the lessons instilled in Annie and her siblings were that of hard work, appreciation, and togetherness - principle lessons would carry her through all of her days. She went on to meet the love of her life, Wayne P. Binford, but World War II disrupted their courtship as Wayne enlisted in the Navy and was shipped to the Pacific. Once the war was over, the pair married in an intimate ceremony on April 4, 1946 in Alta Loma, Texas. Family was always the center of Annie's world and she took the greatest pride in raising her three lovely daughters. Forthright, honest and loyal, Annie Lou was the backbone of the Binford family. She loved cooking and sitting on the porch, sipping coffee, and listening to the birds sing. She always had a hug ready for her grandchildren, and gave the sort of hugs that you can only get from the love of a grandmother. The walls of her room are adorned with a life full of wonderful memories and accomplishments of those she loved most. She was treasured and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her husband Wayne Binford who joined the Lord July 13, 2000 precedes Annie Lou in death, as do her sisters Iona, Gertrude, and Elsie. Her brother Everett, sister Velma Rae; children Barbara and Gene Sanders, Laura Carlson, Janet and Thomas Downing; grandchildren Brandon and Amanda Gust, Kimberly and Louis Lawrence, Michael and Ashley Downing, Rachael Downing; and great grandchildren Dyllan, Andrew, Louis, and Avery survive her. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm at the SouthPark Funeral Home and Cemetery in Pearland. A private graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm.
