Annette Mickel's Obituary
Annette Marie Moureau Mickel was born September 9, 1922 and passed in her home January 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family members.
She married Newton Conrad Mickel August 24, 1946 in Holland, Indiana. They owned a successful carpet business until their retirement in the mid 1980's.
She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Each of us have many special memories with her. She taught us to play games, cards, crochet, cooking, as well as many other things. She instilled in us to appreciate the simple things in life.
Upon retirement, Annette and her husband enjoyed each other. They woke up most days before the sun came up, drank their coffee and read the newspaper. When "the game" was on TV they both enjoyed sitting in their matching recliners and watching it together.
After Newton passed away Annette lived out her life by crocheting, assembling puzzles, playing with her computer, baking, and hosting the family holiday dinners until becoming legally blind. This is when the immediate family and close friends stepped up and assisted Annette with her daily life. In spite of the vision loss she was still a very dynamic force and an independent woman.
She kept up with the news, current events, listened to her soap operas, participated with Young at Heart, and maintained her lifeline by socializing on the phone.
On a typical day she got up, drank two cups of coffee, ate her honey bun, and began her daily regimen of making and receiving therapeutic phone calls.
Annette is survived by her siblings Jerry, Wayne, and Marlene.
She is also survived by her son Ron and his wife Pam; her granddaughters Kimberly Wilson, Kristen Scott, Renee, and her husband James Carter.
Annette has six great grandchildren Christopher Abshire, Jessica Wilson, Danny Scott, Megan Scott, Autumn Carter, and Jacob Carter.
Annette was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Dorothy Kaiser Moureau, father, Walter A. Moureau, her brother Harry, and sister Elaine.
