Mrs. Anne Sarah Buckley's Obituary
Anne Sarah Bryan Buckley, 96, of Pearland, formerly of Galveston, passed from this life into the arms of her dear Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2015.
Born Monday, May 12, 1919 at Ft. McHenry, Maryland, Anne was the 2nd of the 7 children of Orlando and Mary Flaherty Bryan. Her service with the Department of State at the end of WWII, took her to Italy and Greece. Anne worked with many key statesmen, including Archibald MacLeish.
Once back in the States, Anne married John Arthur "Jack" Buckley of Brooklyn, NY on May 12, 1945. Anne and Jack lived in Maryland and Oklahoma before settling in Galveston, Texas, where Jack served as Hospital Administrator for the U.S. Public Health Hospital.
In her early years, Anne was a violinist for the Neighboring Orchestra of Washington, D.C., an excellent horsewoman and enjoyed flying in private planes. Anne was a 25 year member of the "Country Place RagTimers Ukulele Band", and an avid Bridge player who rarely missed a slam. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in the Junior League of Houston. Anne is preceded in death by her husband Jack, son Christopher and sister Mary Manuel. Survivors include: Siblings - John Bryan (Betty), Chris Bryan (Casey), Catherine Thibodeau, Sister Josephine Bryan SP and Pauline Duff. Children - Maryloretto (Keith), John (Diana), JoAnne, Daniel (Patti); 6 grandchildren – Matthew Taylor (Kammie), Dan Buckley, Jr., John Buckley, II, Mary Buckley, Caitlin Buckley, Kevin Taylor, and a great grandson Taylor due in November.
Anne will be buried next to the love of her life Jack and son Christopher at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Silver Spring, Maryland on August 8 at 10 a.m. where her life will be celebrated by her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, families and loved ones.
