Annamma Abraham's Obituary
Annamma Abraham (Kunjanamma) was born April 11, 1949 to the late
V.T. Thomas and Rachel Thomas of Vadekkeparampil house. Growing up
in Ranni, Kerala, she was the fourth of six children. Her family moved to
Edakkara in the Malabar region of Kerala when she was 20 years old.
Annamma attended Noel Memorial High School, Kariamplave before
traveling 900 miles from home at age 18 to study at Medical College
Nagpur in Madhya Pradesh. She worked in Nagpur and then Bombay
from 1975 to 1977.
In Nilambur she met her devoted husband, P.M. Abraham, with whom
she would live a full life for 49 years. Annamma immigrated to Houston
in 1977. She loved raising her two sons and modeling a life of faith in
Christ for them. The family settled in the Spring area where their
children completed high school before moving to Stafford in 2005.
She retired in 2014 at Memorial Hermann Hospital after 45 years as a
nurse. She loved to travel, going on adventures with her husband in
Israel, Switzerland, Italy, Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and
other places.
Annamma adored her five grandchildren, playing with them, feeding
them even when they were full, and demonstrating how to love
extravagantly. She loved to prepare their favorite Kerala beef fry and
send it home with them.
Her faith and warm, authentic spirit was present in every interaction.
She was an encourager to her family and close friends. She was known
for her vibrant cooking and organic backyard vegetable garden. She loved
worshiping in church and attending women’s Bible studies and prayer
meetings.
She is survived by her husband, P.M. Abraham, and two sons: Blesson
Abraham and wife Jolly with grandchildren Bruce (10), Dean (7), and Kate
(6); and Sajan Abraham and wife Sheena with grandchildren Layla (12)
and Ezra (9). She leaves behind her two younger sisters, Saramma Philip
and Thankamma Thomas.
Annamma passed away at home in the presence of her family on the
morning of June 1. She is reunited with her loved ones in heaven and free
of pain, leaving a legacy we will honor and cherish forever.
