Anita Currey's Obituary
Anita Currey, 95, passed away on September 5, 2023 in Houston, TX. Anita was a longtime member of Sunset United Methodist Church where she sang soprano in the choir
for over 50 years. She enjoyed participating in activities with the United Methodist
Women and particularly loved being a part of the quilting group. Anita was known for her
sewing skills and made most of her daughters’ school clothes and church dresses. She
was also quite artistic and painted many cute wood cutouts for her home and family.
Most of all, she loved her Lord and faithfully read her Bible and prayed for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James D. and Estelle Strickland; her
beloved husband of 61 years, Milton, with whom she loved to travel; infant daughter
Norma Elaine; and the sweetest of sisters Norma Williams.
Anita is survived by son David Currey and wife Julie of Friendswood, Texas; daughter
Luanne Reimers and husband Harold of Georgetown, Texas; daughter Melinda
Kendrick of Houston, Texas; her two much-loved granddaughters Alyson Currey of
Juneau, Alaska, and Bonnie Bass and husband Brian of Layton, Utah; brother James R.
Strickland and wife Lois of Marshall, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Anita will be held on Friday, September 22, 2:00pm at Sunset
United Methodist Church, 709 Allendale Rd, Pasadena, TX.
