Angelo Anthony Russo Jr.'s Obituary
Angelo (Pete) Anthony Russo Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, three days before his 80 th birthday.
Pete was born on October 22, 1944, to Angelo “Pete” Russo Sr. and Madeline (Tomasino) Russo in Houston, Tx. He attended Mount Carmel High where he was a cheerleader and studied at Sam Houston State University. Growing up, Pete worked at his family’s hardware store, Holman Hardware in Houston. He spent most of his career in the greeting card industry with American Greetings and Gibson Greeting, retiring as an area supervisor in 2006.
Pete loved to golf, he was an avid sports fan (Texans, Rockets, and Astros were his favorites), enjoyed playing cards, going to the Casino, and traveling-especially to the beach-with family and friends. He had a great love for his family and was always up for a game of cards, usually ensuring money was involved! He was very fortunate to play poker with his wonderful high school buddies for over 60 years as well as playing with beloved mixed couples’ group for over 45 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years Patricia Hartensteiner-Russo, son Angelo “Pete” Russo III, wife Rhonda, and stepson Roger Burkhalter. He also leaves behind grandchildren Alayna Montgomery (Tyler), Nicole Berreth (Richard), Amanda Stewart, Kristen Russo, and Andrew Burkhalter, as well as his sisters Carolyn Grizzaffi and Paulette Bernhagen (Patrick), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is proceded in death by his parents Angelo and Madeline Russo, his brothers Phillip and Ronnie Russo, his sister Mary Campise, and his beloved son Michael Russo.
Pete’s family was his greatest joy, and he created countless cherished memories with them throughout his life. His legacy of love and laughter will be deeply missed not only by his family but also by many of his friends. “Pete” was known to all as Dad, Pops, Papa – The Man, The Myth, The Legend.
A celebration of Pete’s life will take place at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 S. Main St., Pearland, Tx at 10:30 a.m. on October 31st, 2024. A celebration lunch will immediately follow with one of his favorite meals at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2320 Hatfield Rd., Pearland, Tx.
