Amy Ann Herrera's Obituary
On July 24, 1970, Amy Soza arrived in this world in Houston, Texas. On August 3, 2021, she passed from this life to meet her Savior in Heaven. Having finished her race, she now awaits the return of our Yeshua (Jesus).
This loving wife and amazing mother of four children never wanted to be separated from the family members she loved so much. Just being with them, even if it was “window shopping,” gave her such happiness. Eating at a restaurant with those she loved was another delightful time for her and she loved how Isaac took her out to eat and spending time with her. She enjoyed spending time teaching Jared how to cook and they both loved cooking even now Jared knows how to make the family specialty- Mexican rice.
Accompanied by her daughter, Nina, the two of them loved to get their nails polished. But with her daughter, Tiana, it was musical instruments. Amy was a truly gifted musician. As a little girl, she learned to play the piano by ear. Playing the piano, singing with great passion, and dancing with her husband were some of her favorite past-times. But if she was with a group who enjoyed word games or bingo, Amy would be the first to join them.
Kind, funny, faithful, smart, and loving, she was an amazing friend to those who knew her well. And what an amazing cook she was! Everyone loved her specialty—Mexican rice.
As she studied the Word of God with her family, her faith grew by leaps and bounds in the last ten years of her life. How she enjoyed gathering with others on the Sabbath and feast days. While she truly loved children and spending time with family and friends, home gatherings were her favorite. That was probably because she was such a wonderful hostess.
Worship, praising God, and deep discussions about the Word were so meaningful. Because she loved God with all her heart, soul, and mind, many people were touched by her words of wisdom in their time of trouble.
Even her knowledge and understanding of medical terminology was amazing. And, oh how she could save money! She was the one people leaned on when they were broke or needed financial assistance. Her philosophy was “doing things the right way.”
Her love for family members was extraordinary. Amy was so close to her niece, Victoria Soza and her children, she gave nicknames to both of her sons, Adam and Alex.
Amy will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by Alberto Herrera, her loving and faithful husband of 34 years, her two sons, Isaac and Jared Herrera, her two daughters, Nina and Tiana Herrera, her dad, Adam Soza, a sister, Diana Jones and her husband Bob, a sister-in-law, Linda Soza, and numerous nieces and nephews: Victoria and her children, Adam and Alex, Victor Soza, Jr. and his children, Alyssa, Kayla and Uriyah, Jessi Jones and
