Ammukutty Chacko's Obituary
Ammukutty Chacko was born on April 23, 1945 in Thalavady, Kerala, India to Mathunny and Achamma Ittycheria. She was the second of seven children born and brought up in a Christian, God-fearing family. She was saved at the age of 12 and took water baptism at the age of 14 by a TPM pastor in Thalavady. She received the baptism of the Holy Spirit when she was 20.
Her mother, who went to the Mar Thoma Church, came to know the TPM Faith Home sisters, as they used to visit nearby believers, and she would invite them to come to their house. The Faith Home sisters eventually invited her mother to the TPM church. Her father continued going to the Brethren Mission church, but later, joined the TPM church.
After completing high school, her uncle, who was in Jabalpur, invited her to go there for a job. He put her through nursing school for four and a half years. After graduating, she got married to Daniel (Babykutty) Chacko, on May 2, 1973. She went to New Delhi and worked in Safdarjung Hospital for nine months. Her husband's sister, Gracy, was already in the United States and sponsored her to come over. She arrived in Houston, Texas in July 1974. She took the nursing board exams and passed them. Her husband joined her in the U.S. a year later and it was in Houston that they started their family. God blessed them with two daughters, Betsy and Tracy.
She was known for her generous spirit. She would abundantly give gifts and food to anyone she came to know. She was fiercely loyal and loving to her family and friends, and deeply devoted to her faith in Jesus and the church.
In her lifetime, she went through many sicknesses, including cancer and a brain tumor, but she testified that God was with her and never forsook her during those times. God was faithful to heal her, and her family supported her in her trials of affliction.
One of her greatest joys was to be a grandmother to her only grandchild, Madeline (Maddie). Even when in pain, she would play with Maddie, and Maddie loved her "Pasadena Amma."
She suffered from severe pain especially in her last two weeks on earth. On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 11:26 pm, the Lord saw it fit to take her home to be with Him. Even though we will miss her, our loss is heaven's gain, and we know she is not suffering anymore.
Ammukutty was preceded in death by her father, mother, oldest brother, Mathai (Babu), and three sisters-in-law, Rachel (Chellamma), Leelamma, and Gracy (Vavamma). She is survived by her husband, Daniel (Babykutty), her oldest daughter, Betsy, her younger daughter and family, Tracy and
Jason, and
granddaughter Madeline Thomas, her siblings, Alice Cherian (who is serving the Lord in the TPM ministry in Kottarakara, India), Raju, Valsamma, Rosamma, Prasad and all their respective families. Also, her sister's-in-law family, Thankachen and family, and brother-in-law, Jolly and Marykutty and family, and a host of other extended family members, church family, and friends.
