Alberta Maria Robinson's Obituary
Obituary
Alberta Marie Robinson (Dobbins) was born on November 14, 1949, to the late James Walter and Alberta Dobbins in Fayette County, Texas. Alberta accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized where she was a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Roundtop, Texas. She attended and graduated from La Grange High School.
After graduation, Alberta pursued her interest in helping others by accepting a role as a medical assistant at the local LaGrange General Hospital. Alberta furthered her career after relocating to Houston where she began working for a private practice physician and was able to expand her medical knowledge and expertise. Alberta eventually landed a position with Dr. David Wolf, DPM, where she excelled as a Podiatrist Assistant; that became her passion for 30 plus years until she retired.
In December of 1969 Alberta was blessed with the birth of a daughter, La Sonya Gail Dobbins, who was the light of her life. La Sonya was an extremely bright and academically intelligent child who graduated with honors from Westbury High School. She pursued higher education at the University of Houston before being summoned alongside her favorite cousin Carmen Denise Washington by the Lord in late 1988. The memories of both La Sonya and Carmen have been everlasting.
Alberta joined the Holman Street Baptist Church family in the 90’s and eventually became a member of the choir where she sang for several years before joining her loving senior sisters as part of the beloved Hospitality Ministry. She was always a proud and dedicated member of the Holman Street Baptist Church. Alberta spent her adult life as an evangelist for our Lord and Savor.
Alberta was an avid and loyal baseball and football fan cheering on her beloved Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys. She loved to sport her Astros gear while watching every game on TV and attending a few games in person over the years.
Preceding Alberta in death was her daughter of 18 years La Sonya Gail Dobbins, her parents, two brothers, Edward Lee (Ray) and Verde; four sisters, Darlene, Vernell, Inez, and Irma Jean; in addition to a few loved nieces and nephews.
Alberta is survived by two sisters: Gloria Airlean Stevens (Wilford Sr.) of DeSoto, TX. and La Vern Bass of Sacramento, CA., and one brother James L. Dobbins (Anne) of Houston, TX. In addition, Alberta is also survived by a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends.
Alberta’s loving spirit and abundant good-will is truly a reason to celebrate her well-lived life. God Bless
