There’s a lot to be said but I’ll try to keep it short and mostly explain why Mimi was the best great grandmother.
First and foremost, I grew up and was raised by Mimi. I always known her to be a mother to me since she bathed me, fed me, took care of me when I was sick. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t see her. Over the years. There were things that just became a normal routine. I would wake up early with my Mimi. She always had her cup of coffee with her nilla cookies or conchas while I’ll eat my small bowl of cereal or eggs. We were the ones to always wake up and sit at the grand table that was next to a large window. With such a beautiful view of the sun rising. Upon looking out the window I always looked at nini as a kid I didn’t know what I was feeling but it felt comforting and beautiful. As I grew older I came to realize that what I was feeling was love and admiration. My heart was always fond of my Mimi.
There are some things I do without realizing that it was comforting. Before going to bed my Mimi would make sure I had socks and comfortable clothes to sleep in, she brushed my hair into a ponytail, laid me down, dowsed me in vicks, and tucked me in and topped it off with a goodnight kiss. Till this very day I do this, it’s comforting and a reminder of who always did it. The only thing that was missed was her sweet kiss goodnight.
Mimi was and will always be my in my heart I’m happy I’ve gotten to create memories with her. Estela Mendoza. I love you so much and I know you’re in better hands. We love you so much.
