As Gretchen Miller's father, I want to thank Jesse and the Saldana family for Marcus. In his trips to Ida Grove, many people have met Marcus, and have commented on what a remarkable young man he is. He has a remarkably healthy view of life, and finds so many things interesting.
To Ruth, and the rest of the Saldana family, every so often, at a time like this, I have to remember a central truth and article of faith. To all of you, Jesse is gone... but that is just for now. I believe in God and Heaven, and know that Jesse is in a place where his body is not failing him, he is not suffering, he does not have to deal with South Texas heat and humidity. And, in time, when you are done doing God's work on earth, you will see Jesse again. So do not look at him as gone forever. This is not a final goodbye, it is 'see you later'. The grief we all feel in this situation is that the loved one is not available to talk to , socialize with, share a meal. But we all go through that many times in life, when we part ways with high school friends, relatives who move far away.
So, take care, all of you. And when God is done with me here (which probably wont be for a long time) I will visit with Jesse, and all of you who go on before me.
