Vaada Mae Pitts Smith Ellisor left this earth on Saturday, July 31, 2021 to claim the mansion Jesus has prepared for her (John 14:2-3). Mrs. Ellisor passed peacefully from her home in Killeen, Texas, at the age of 95. Vaada Mae Pitts was born on May 27, 1926, to Susan (Annie, Nip) Ainsworth Pitts and Arden Pitts. She resided in Nacogdoches, Texas, and attended Harmony Baptist Church and the local county school. She was married to Walter (Bubbie) Alvin Smith on December 28, 1944, and lived in Houston and Chocolate Bayou, Texas, until his death 55 years later. They had four children. The day before her 75th birthday, she married Wilburn (Bill) Ellisor in May 2001. During this chapter of her life, Mrs. Ellisor lived in Colorado and Mission, Texas, until moving to Killeen. Being self-taught in order to rise above her humble country life, Vaada excelled in every area of her interest. She was an accomplished hostess. As a member of a Houston garden club, her yard won honors and was featured in a magazine. She joined her husband, “Bubbie” in running their business, B & B Trucking. They also partnered in years of service to boating safety through their involvement in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where Vaada became the first female Commander in Division 8 of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. As a long-time member of South Park Baptist Church, Vaada taught a ladies’ Sunday School and served on the Stewardship Committee. After marrying Bill, Vaada became involved with the retired YMCA, where she was named the first Woman of the Year for the Schreiner Chapter of YMCA alumni. Vaada is survived by her husband, Wilburn “Bill” Ellisor; daughter Sherry Ward and husband Jerry; son Walter Alvin Smith, Jr. and wife Olinda; daughter Kimberly Morrison and husband Anthony; grandchildren Tamy Krampota, Brad Ward, Brian (Chastity) Ward, Brett (Amanda) Levy, Emily (Josh) Booth, Joseph (Kastady) Smith, Shannon (Kevin) Istre, Christin Smith, Nathanael (Ashley) Morrison, Jonathan Morrison, Lydia Morrison; great-grandchildren Kourtney Krampota, Autumn Jenkins, Devin (Whitney) Ward, Sarah (Gabe) Garrett, Raley Levy, Emerson Levy, Rebecca Booth, Paityn Booth, Rhode Smith, Colt Smith, Lincoln Istre; great-great grandchildren Jackson Ward, Lincoln Ward, Gracyn Garrett; heart family Gary and Meredith Worstel; and many special relatives. She is predeceased by husband Walter (Bubbie) Smith; son Darwin Arden Smith; grandson Brett Arden Smith; parents Susan Ann (Annie) Pitts and Arden Pitts; sister Beatrice (Bea) Monk, sister Lela Marie (Mutt) Johnson; twin sister Veeda (Toad) Acosta; niece Gayla Mize and many loved Smith family members. Vaada Pitts Smith Ellisor was known for her vivacious personality, stunning beauty, fashion sense, and the unselfish love she had for her family. She is now celebrating in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Killeen, 3310 S. W S Young Drive, Killeen, on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 2:00 pm. A 3:00 pm graveside service will follow on Monday, August 9 at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N. Main, Pearland, Texas. Instead of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to First Baptist Church Killeen Building Fund or YMCA of the USA, Emergency Assistance Fund, 101 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60606, in memory of Vaada Smith Ellisor.
