Mary Louise Britten

Mary Louise Hatten Britten was born to the late Mark Hatten and Geraldine Jackson Phillips on September 7, 1952. She departed this life on Friday, February 19, 2021. She acknowledged Christ at an early age and loved the Lord with all her heart. For the last twenty five years, she has been a member of First Morning Star MBC under the leadership of Pastor Carl E. Issac, Sr. She was an active member of the Usher Board and Deaconess until her passing. By her siblings she was affectionately called "Baby Sister". To her school-aged friends she was known as "SoSo" and in later years she was called "Mary B." by all who knew her. Mary received her early childhood education at Thomas Gibbs Elementary and graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1970. She attended Southern University and later transferred to Texas Southern University where she continued her studies in business. She was united in holy matrimony on September 6, 1975 to Walter Britten. Mary B. leaves to cherish her memories, her husband: Walter Britten of Houston, TX; Three sons: Brokeithlen (Keshira) Britten, Donyale (Tory) Britten, Aaron (Treona) Britten and One daughter: Sharonda (Sean) Purnell all of Houston, TX. Five Brothers Walter Ray (Joanne) Jackson of Jenerette, LA; Moses (Caroline) Phillips and Jessie Phillips of Houston, TX; Michael (Glenda) Phillips of New Iberia, LA and Theodore (Ida) Phillips of Jeanerette, LA; Five Sisters, Margaret Reid, Brenda Rogers, Norma Yarber, Della (George) Foster and Beverly (Kevin) McFarlin all of Houston, TX; 15 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren; 3 God children; 7 Brothers-in Law and 12 Sisters-in-Law and a host of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Mark Hatten and Geraldine Jackson Phillips; Both paternal and maternal grandparents; Three brothers: Larry, Ronald and Claude Jr. Phillips; One aunt: Mary Louise Phillips; One uncle: Anthony Jackson and One nephew: Troy Smith.
