Iva Pearl (Hansen) Hankins August 29, 1930 – May 4, 2022 Iva Pearl (Hansen) Hankins, 91 years young, passed away on May 4, 2022. She was surrounded with the love and prayers of many of her children, grandkids and great grandkids just prior to passing. She was born in Shelley, Idaho, a small town located between Blackfoot and Idaho Falls, to Peter and Lyla Hansen on August 29, 1930. She was sixth of eight children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, B.F. (Bob) Hankins, Jr.; her parents and six of her siblings. She is survived by her children Karen (Bill), Steve, Barbara (John); Linda (Ford) and 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one more in the oven. Her family has grown to a total of 44 with spouses and extended family. She is also survived by one brother Enoch (Linda); brother-in-law Maurice; sister-in-law Diane and numerous nieces and nephews who love her dearly and will miss her just as much as her own immediate family. She grew up in the small towns in Idaho, graduated from Firth (Idaho) High School in 1949. In school she enjoyed singing in the Glee Club and Chorus, cheering for the boys at all the games and creating good school spirit in the Pep Club, and was also in FHA (Future Homemakers of America). She was just planning to visit her sister in the huge city of Houston, Tx but she met the love of her life, Bob Hankins, and almost 70 years later, she still lived in Texas. Pearl always said she wanted to move back to Idaho. As a family, her and Bob talked about moving to Idaho, but for various reasons they never made the move. Pearl was a feisty lady who loved her family dearly, but was not afraid to voice her opinion. She loved bowling, and was on several different leagues over the years. And enjoyed playing shuffle board at the American Legion, and playing cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed doing yard work. Pearl would plant something in the yard, dig it up and move it several times, and it would still continue to grow. She had green thumb or a magical touch, because when others move plants from one place to another as often as she did, they would die. She also loved to move her furniture inside the house, just like she did her plants outside. One of her more recent hobbies was creating really beautiful art with her adult coloring pages. Pearl framed many of her pictures and would give them to family and friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing songs from the old sheet music.
