Gayle Delee Coleman

December 3, 1937 - January 28, 2022

Gayle Delee Coleman of El Lago, Texas passed away on January 28, 2022 at the age of 84. After a courageous battle with cancer, Gayle never changed heart and remained strong to the end. Gayle was born to Bernard and Ada Dohrman on December 3, 1937 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After graduating from Pasadena High School, Class of 1956, Gayle completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Minor in English, from the University of Houston. Gayle then used her talents as a Special Ed Teacher in Friendswood, Texas. Gayle then made a career change to be a Branch Manager for Heights Savings & Loan. She continued with Heights Savings until the birth of her third child so she could stay home full-time to care for her children. Gayle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Melissa Evans, Norris Coleman Jr. and his wife Stephanie, Teresa Smythe and her husband Kenton, Donna Janish and her husband John, and her two youngest daughters Dorothy Brown and Janet Coleman. Gayle is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen and his wife Ciara, Marcus and his fiancé Stephanie, Drew Townsend, Amanda Townsend, Andrew Smythe, Casey Smythe Wolfe, Jonathan Simpson, and Kristen Simpson. She also has two beautiful great granddaughters Layla and Elle Townsend and one great grandson Bennett Townsend. Gayle will be forever missed, but we find comfort knowing she is with Jesus Christ our Savior, and her beloved husband Norris. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Vista Nursing & Rehabilitation for the kindness they gave to Gayle while she was in their care. Especially to her Nurse – Annemarie Galvin, her CNA’s – Rebecca Manrique and Cecilia McClain, and to the Receptionist – Sierra Robertson for always greeting the family with a smile and making us feel welcome. A memorial and gravesite service will be held in Gayle’s honor at the South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery on February 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. The address is 1310 N Main Street, Pearland, TX 77581. A reception will be held at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church following the services located at 18220 Upper Bay Rd, Houston, TX 77058.
