A.O. "Tunney" Johnston, 88, of Pearland, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 27th, 2022 in his home. In hospice care for a two-week period prior to his death, Tunney died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family. Tunney was born in Pearland, Texas and graduated from Pearland High School in 1951. He was married to Frances Johnston, on July 28th, 1955. Tunney spent his early years farming cattle and rice with his family. In the years that followed, he worked at Brazoria County Drainage District and retired after 35 years. He owned and operated Tunney's Lawnmower Repair for over 40 years. He served many years with the Lions Club, Pearland Volunteer Fire Department, and was a Pearland School Board Member. He was known for being an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and rancher. He could fix and engineer anything he set his mind to. He enjoyed building bird houses and feeders, wind chimes, and toys for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, H.C. "Tud" Johnston; mother, Thelma Johnston; H.D. "Buck" Johnston and wife Margie; Harvey Eugene "Gene" and wife Margorie; Addie Lorraine Crouch and husband Don; nieces, Jeanine Johnston and Terry Lee Kleckley. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Frances; daughter, Vicky Owen and husband, Rick Dorenkamp; son, Cary Johnston and wife, Gidget; daughter, Lori Studdard and husband, Stuart; grandchildren, Sarah Forrester, Stephanie Withers, Cameron Christian, Shanna McLaurin, Kaitlin Fults, Mary King, Kari Johnston, Brycen Guzman, Logan Studdard, and Carson Johnston; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family wants to thank Traditions Health for their service and support of the family during this difficult time.
